WHAT WE'RE GONNA TALK

Just like in a cafe, we talk about everything. Nothing heavy. Just talk over a cup of coffee.

THE EFFECTS OF WHAT WE SAID

Once an old man spread rumours that his neighbour was a thief.

As a result, the young man was arrested. Days later the young man was proven innocent. After being released he sued the old man for wrongly accusing him.

In the court the old man told the Judge: “They were just comments, didn’t harm anyone.”

THE SMOOTH SEAS

"Smooth seas do not make skillful sailors."  (African Proverb)

It is because smooth seas don't have something that challenge the skill of the sailors.

Smooth seas will make the sailors so and so. It doesn't push the quality of the sailors to the edge.

But trouble seas, difficult seas, will make the sailors put their potential to the end. It require their very best to tame the wild seas, which in the end it will heighten the quality of the sailors.

So does with life.

Smooth life won't make us better. But hard life will push us to the edge and make us a better person.

Hard and difficult life experiences will make us have a better quality as a person.

FAILURE IS A PATH

"Failure is a path, not a destination." (Robert Logan)

A path is not the destination. A path is not the end of our journey, a destination is.

Through the path we will come to the destination. Without any path we will never come to our destination.

Failure is one of the path. We pass it. We walk on it. But we don't stop on it because it is not the destination.

If we find a failure in our journey and we stop, then we make a wrong stop. We haven't reach our destination yet.

Go on. Carry on. Never stop, never give up.

AMAYADORI: ANOTHER SONG FROM THE PAST

I drove my car with my family after church when my daughter, Michelle, tuned in to one of the radio stations and there was a song played, a Japanese song.

And I said to her, "Michelle, this Japanese song title is Amayadori. This song was very famous when I was a teenager."

NO ONE CAN CHANGE US

"Only I can change my life. No one can do it for me." (Carol Burnett)

No one can change us.

Others only suggest us to change. Some others only inspire us to change.
The books we read cannot change us. It only inspires and motivates us to change.

All the power outside us in the world cannot change us.

We are the only factor who has ability to change ourselves. We have the power to change ourselves or not to change.

If we want to change. Just change. Don't wait for anything.

We are in control in changing ourselves.

Make up your mind. Have courage, and change.

RECOGNIZE TO SURVIVE

"The only way to survive in the desert is to recognize that it is a desert." (Half Broke Horses)

Recognizing that the desert is the desert means understand the beauty and the deadly of the desert. By having this knowledge, we will survive in the desert. We won't be killed while we enjoy the beautiful scene of it because we forget the danger in it. And we won't miss the beauty of the desert because we are too careful to watch everything from the danger.

So does our life.

To survive in life, we have to recognize that life is life. There is beauty things and there is deadly things.

Enjoy the life we have but always alert. Alert about many things but also enjoy it.

We won't survive if we don't do those two things.

Only enjoying life will kill us. Just watch over our life will kill us as well.

Life is about wine and cyanide. Wrong choice will be fatal.

Recognize it.

Be wise.

SHOW OUR COMPASSION

"Show compassion to others not because of who they are, but because of who you are." (Andrew T. Somers)

Many times when we show our compassion, we show it to the one we like.

It is like that our compassion is only for the ones that delight us. For those who deserve according to our eyes. Because they are good in our eyes so we are willing to show our compassion to them.
But that is totally wrong.

We should show our compassion to others not because they are good in our eyes, it is because they need it. And we are capable of giving the compassion because we have it. Because the compassion is within us.

We show and give our compassion because we have it and they need it. Not because they are good in our eyes.

THE PEOPLE IN OUR LIFE

"If the people in your life don't push you to be better, then start bringing better people into your life." (@2morrowknight)
Our peer should be the factor that makes us better.

The bottom line, the people around us is having an influence toward us. The good or bad influence.
So if we want to be better each day, we have to choose the people we want to be around.

Gather around with the wrong crowd will rot good behavior.

We should be wise when it comes to choose the people we want to be around.

Change the people around us by finding the new ones when we found out that the old crowd did not make us better.

LOVE YOURSELF

"You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world." (Lucille Ball)

Make peace with ourselves is the most important thing in this life.

Some people never have peace with themselves, they never love themselves. The worst, some people hate themselves. And they cannot accept who and what they are. With this conditions, it is hard to achieve anything in life. Because they have an internal war within.

To love ourselves, not being selfish in this case, is the key to achieve a good works and success in life.
Having peace with ourselves makes us feel good about ourselves. It means we can accept ourselves as what and who we are. And it builds confidence within and makes us having courage to do anything.
This is the first factor to achieve success in life.

OUR BEAUTIFUL JOURNEY

The beautiful journey of today can only begin when we learn to let go of yesterday (Steve Maraboli)

Start fresh.

Leave behind our past. Something sweet or bitter, let it stays in the past.

Let it go.

Don't let our triumph in the past make us stick to it and lessen our courage to do something new.

Don't let our bad experience makes us bound with the past trauma and turn us into a dwarf in the spirit.

Let them go.

Start fresh. Start our beautiful journey today without any string with our past.

Embrace our new experiences. Enter a new zones, new territories. Walk into the unknown. And be a winner.

THE FIRST PRINCIPLE

When one goes to Obaku temple in Kyoto he sees carved over the gate the words "The First Principle." The letters are unusually large, and those who appreciate calligraphy always admire them as being a masterpiece. They were drawn by Kosen two hundred years ago.

When the master drew them he did so on paper, from which workmen made the larger carving in wood. As Kosen sketched the letters a bold pupil was with him who had made several gallons of ink for the calligraphy and who never failed to criticize his master's work.

THE WATERMELON, THE MONSTER

Once upon a time there was a man who strayed from his own country into the world known as the Land of Fools. He soon saw a number of people flying in terror from a field where they had been trying to reap wheat. "There is a monster in that field," they told him. He looked, and saw that the "monster" was merely a watermelon.

He offered to kill the "monster" for them. When he had cut the melon from its stalk, he took a slice and began to eat it. The people became even more terrified of him than they had been of the melon. They drove him away with pitchforks, crying, "He will kill us next, unless we get rid of him."

THE MAN COMES AROUND (video)

I heard this song for the first time when I watched "The Hunted" (Tommy Lee Jones' movie). It is in the end credits of the film. And the song kept on playing in my mind long after the film has ended and I went to sleep.

The next morning I checked in the internet to know what Johnny Cash's album in which this song is contained. Then I called a local CD store. Fortunately, they have this album.

Hurriedly, I drove to the store to pick up the CD.

Since then, this song is becoming one of my favorite from Johnny Cash's songs.

AKU MELIHAT TUHAN TERSENYUM

"ONWARD". HOW STARBUCKS FOUGHT FOR ITS LIFE WITHOUT LOSING ITS SOUL

THE GREAT ESCAPE

Somewhere.

A place. Human cannot even imagine. In like a dream, but real.

Dark. Darker than any darkness. A pitch dark.

Cold. The absence of heat. The cold caused by the absence of life. The cold of death.

The realm of death.
