WHAT WE'RE GONNA TALK

Just like in a cafe, we talk about everything. Nothing heavy. Just talk over a cup of coffee.

JUST THE WAY YOU ARE: THE GENERATION GAP

One day I told my daughters that one of my favorite song is "Just the Way You Are" by Billy Joel. My daughters are 17 and 15 years old.

And they said that Billy Joel's song is not cool enough. For them Bruno Marz's is much better.

I fought back, I told them that Billy Joel's is the best. And they insisted that Marz is the coolest.

And I smile every time I remember it. I was in high school when Billy Joel's "Just the Way You Are" became hit. It was in 1979. Long before my daughters were born. I haven't got married yet.

I think it is a little picture of the bigger picture of generation gap. Every generation have their own signature. Mine is different from my daughters'. That is why we have to speak with their language in order to be understood.

If you ask me, which one (the generation) is a better one.

I think it is difficult to answer. Because every generation have their own superiority and their own flaws. I cannot say which one is the better one.

But if you ask me, which "Just the Way You Are" is a better one, Joel or Marz?.

Haha, for me Billy Joel's is the best.

Here is the lyric:

Don't go changing, to try and please me
You never let me down before
Don't imagine you're too familiar
And I don't see you anymore
I wouldn't leave you in times of trouble
We never could have come this far
I took the good times, I'll take the bad times
I'll take you just the way you are

Don't go trying some new fashion
Don't change the color of your hair
You always have my unspoken passion
Although I might not seem to care

I don't want clever conversation
I never want to work that hard
I just want someone that I can talk to
I want you just the way you are.

I need to know that you will always be
The same old someone that I knew
What will it take till you believe in me
The way that I believe in you.

I said I love you and that's forever
And this I promise from the heart
I could not love you any better
I love you just the way you are.
